About Julie

The Journey So Far

Hi!  I’m Julie and I am a reflexologist.

I have had a passion for complementary therapies since my teenage years and  over time I have experienced and enjoyed a number of different forms including massages, reflexology, acupuncture, reiki, transformational healing and Ayurvedic therapies while on a nursing placement to India.

My decision to study reflexology is one I will be ever grateful for.  Ever since my first reflexology session aged 14 years old, it was on my radar as something I wanted to learn and share.  Even throughout my nursing degree and career the interest was still smouldering away.  It wasn’t until many years later while on maternity leave with my second child, that I embarked on my reflexology training (as you do, with a baby and a toddler and all of the free time that comes with them right?).

Since completing my initial studies I have gone on to complete courses in Ayurvedic Face Reflexology, Reflexology Lymph Drainage, Functional Reflex Therapy and Reiki.  I also hold an instructors qualification to teach baby massage to parents.

As a registered nurse of 15 years working in two busy city hospitals in Edinburgh I have been exposed to many people and situations and have developed a great toolkit of skills to use with my clients.  My clinical background, including surgical, critical care and clinical research, is extremely beneficial when talking with clients and putting them at ease; it provides a solid foundation in understanding their medical history, medicines and the reason they may be seeking out holistic therapies.  Possibly the most important is the skill of listening and not only the words I am being told, but also what is not being said.  It is equally important as a reflexologist to listen to the feet and what they are telling me.

I’m a mum of two boys, juggling motherhood with running a business since taking a step back from my nursing career in 2018 to be around for my children.  In my ‘spare’ time, I can be found taking a walk in the woods, practicing yoga or happily absorbed in a crochet project or five.

Please do get in touch if you would like to know more about the therapies  and workshops I offer.
